APC Chieftain Tasks Nigerians On Humanitarian Services

ASABA/Nigeria: Mr Adedeji Osinowo, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area of Lagos State has urged Nigerians on humanitarian services.

Osinowo gave this advice during the 2024 Annual End-Of-Year/Christmas Party he organised to celebrate with children and youths within his community.

In a statement made available, he urged youths and politicians to prioritise humanitarian services aimed at reaching out to the downtrodden in the society and further develop communities.

Osinowo, a Councillor representing Ward C at the legislative arm of the council, said that he was aware of most of the challenges being faced by the residents, hence, the need to give back to the community.

“The idea of hosting the annual event began 15 years ago, as a way of celebrating and engaging local youths. In recent years, the event has expanded to include children.

“We organised this party because the children are on holiday. We wanted to bring together all the children, whether from wealthy or less privileged backgrounds, to unite them as one.

“I was born and raised here, and even as a politician, I continue to live among my people. I was once the youth leader of Ikosi-Isheri, and now I am a councillor.

“I believe politicians should always remain close to their people and not move away once they are appointed to office,” he said.

Osinowo said that the event, which had grown over the years, also included activities such as a medical outreach for the elderly, scheduled for Dec. 24; as well as a street carnival on Dec. 30.

Coordinator of the event, Mr Sulaimon Salaudeen, said that the party started in year 2018 with 200 children, but had over 500 children attending in year 2024.

According to him, considering the tough economic conditions, many parents struggle to afford Christmas treats, hence, the party is an opportunity for children to experience the joys of the season.

Salaudeen called on well-meaning individuals and politicians to invest in their communities and make a lasting, positive impact on the youths.
