ANIOMA STATE: I didn’t start the fight but I will finish it -Ned Nwoko
IDUMUJE-GBOKO/Nigeria: SENATOR Ned Nwoko representing Delta North senatorial district at the National Assembly said he did not create the fight for Anioma state but he would finish it as a just cause.
Addressing groups of youths and women from Delta North who paid him a solidarity visit at his Idumuje Ugboko country home, Senator Nwoko said the quest for Anioma state creation had been long drawn, standing for more than 50 years.
He said he is emboldened that Youths as inheritors of the future were prepared for Anioma state as a compelling necessity.
Senator Nwoko told the youths that the protracted agitation for Anioma state was on the threshold of success. He said the creation of an additional state to correct the imbalance in the South East zone was in the offing, propelled by the will of the present government for equity in the Nigerian federal structure.
He said he would work with members of the National Assembly including lawmakers from Delta state to ensure the creation of Anioma.
Nwoko noted that the general clamour for the proposed state had been overwhelming and vowed to lead the march to reality.
“Anioma state is coming. The widespread affirmation from our people drowns the few voices of dissent.I am happy that democratic forces, critical stakeholders are backing the proposal. Community leaders, youths, women and various groups want Anioma.
“The agitation commands historic significance. Our forebears led by late Chief Dennis Osadebay first premier of Midwest region were desirous of Anioma. The new generation strongly desires the state. There is a symbolic connection between the past and present, the old and young.
“The prospects are bright. Anioma state would be very viable and enviable. Her sons and daughters are among Nigeria’s most outstanding in all facets. The people are talented. The land is blessed.
“Anioma land has diversity. We are not talking about oil and gas resources only which are overhyped, and over-dependent. Anioma area is also rich in Agriculture. It is a land of creative excellence. Ideas rule the modern world. Anioma state would be sustained by enterprise, ingenuity and technology. We have the
manpower, climate and innovation to excel” Senator Nwoko said.
The solidarity visit to senator Ned Nwoko was witnessed by representatives of Youth groups including Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide, Ndokwa Neku Union Youth Wing, Progressive Anioma Youth Association, Aghanihu Owa, Ika North East, National Youth Council Ndokwa East, Oshimili South Youths, Ika Community Youths, Anioma Youth Movement, Anioma Youth Council, and Delta North Youth Assembly.
