Agbor Tanker Explosion: Lives Lost, Properties Destroyed

AGBOR/Nigeria: Agbor, the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area in Delta State, was rocked by a devastating tanker explosion on Sunday, leaving several people feared dead and widespread destruction in its wake. The tragedy unfolded along the busy Old Lagos/Asaba Road near the First Bank building in the bustling heart of the town.

Eyewitnesses reported that the petrol tanker, loaded to capacity, tipped over while attempting a U-turn, triggering a massive explosion. The resulting blaze consumed nearby buildings and vehicles, causing panic as residents scrambled to safety. As of this report, the fire remains uncontained, with emergency responders battling to bring it under control.

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the casualties and extent of damage. Videos shared on social media suggest a higher death toll than official figures. While some accounts claim two banks were affected, others indicate that only the First Bank building was engulfed in flames.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), usually responsible for providing detailed reports on such incidents, has yet to issue an official statement.

As investigations continue, the true scale of the disaster remains uncertain. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with emergency services to mitigate further harm.
