Delta, Lagos Assemblies Vow Stronger Ties for Growth

ASABA/Nigeria: The Speakers of the Delta and Lagos State Houses of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor and Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, have pledged to deepen inter-state legislative collaboration to drive growth and development in both states.

Speaking in Asaba when they met at the private residence of the Delta Speaker, shortly after the formal ceremony marking Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s defection alongside the entire PDP structure in Delta State to the APC, both leaders emphasized the need for stronger legislative partnerships. Guwor noted that Delta and Lagos share immense potentials, and that enhanced cooperation would promote good governance and improve the wellbeing of their citizens.

Welcoming Obasa to Delta, Guwor described the visit as significant, saying it had further solidified the relationship between the two Assemblies. “Our states share common goals. We will continue to discuss ways to foster economic growth, infrastructure development, and social progress,” Guwor assured, calling for exploration of mutual initiatives between the two legislative houses.

Responding, Obasa thanked Guwor for the warm hospitality and noted that the visit reflected the growing bond between the two states. He described Governor Oborevwori as a personal friend and said the governor’s movement to the APC would enhance Delta’s development. The meeting was witnessed by key figures including the Majority Leader of the Delta Assembly, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, Hon Pereotu Oloye, Dr Dennis Otuaro, and Mr ThankGod Seibi.
