Delta Police Command to Celebrate National Police Day with Community Engagement Activities

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has announced plans to celebrate the first National Police Day on April 7, 2025, following a presidential directive establishing the annual event. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has invited members of the public to participate in a series of activities aimed at strengthening police-community relations and honoring the dedication of police officers in ensuring public safety.
In the lead-up to the celebration, the command has lined up several community-oriented programs from April 2 to April 7. These include a Free Medical Service Outreach at the Police Clinic, Asaba, on April 4, aimed at providing essential healthcare services to residents. The command will also conduct a statewide sanitation and cleanup exercise across all 25 local government areas to promote environmental hygiene.
Additionally, a Town Hall Meeting will be held, bringing together community leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, and security stakeholders to discuss crime prevention strategies and foster collaboration between the police and the public. Officers will also embark on a School Outreach Campaign to educate students about the dangers of cultism, violent crime, and gender-based violence, encouraging them to make positive life choices.
The week-long event will conclude with a Walkathon for Strength and Partnership Building, reinforcing the police’s commitment to peace and security in Delta State. The command has urged members of the public to actively participate in these activities and work together with the police to build a safer society.
