40 Female Farmers in Delta State Receive N10 Million Grants, 1,200 Families Get Food Aid

ASABA/Nigeria: Forty female farmers across Delta State have been awarded grants totaling N10 million to support their agricultural businesses, while 1,200 indigent households received food items from the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Delta State First Lady, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori.

The financial grants and food distribution were made possible through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), spearheaded by Senator Tinubu, in partnership with Deaconess Oborevwori’s ‘You Matter Charity Foundation.’ The initiative aims to mitigate the ongoing economic hardships faced by many Nigerians.

During the event at the Events Centre, Asaba, Deaconess Oborevwori, representing Mrs. Tinubu, noted, “Recently, our mother was here to flag off the grant of N100,000 for petty traders, and now it is the turn of indigent women in Delta State.”

She highlighted the focus of the Renewed Hope Initiative, emphasizing its commitment to alleviating the economic struggles of women, who in turn, would support their families. “We received 1,200 bags of 25kg rice, which will be distributed today,” she added.

The beneficiaries were selected from the 25 local government areas across Delta State. The Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, supplemented the initiative by adding 1,200 cartons of noodles, 1,200 bottles of cooking oil, and other essential items to the 1,200 bags of rice from the federal government.

Deaconess Oborevwori urged Deltans to remain hopeful despite the difficult economic climate, encouraging prayers and acts of kindness to help one another through these challenging times. She also advised the female farmers, each of whom received N250,000, to use the funds wisely to strengthen their businesses. “Do not eat your seed so that you can be sure of a harvest tomorrow,” she said, calling on people to extend help to those in need.

In their goodwill messages, Commissioners Princess Pat Ajudua (Women Affairs, Community, and Social Development), Hon. Orode Uduaghan (Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services & Girl-Child Development), and Barr. Val Arenyeka (Agriculture) praised the First Ladies for their compassionate efforts. They noted that the grants and food distribution demonstrate the power of collaboration and urged recipients to make good use of the assistance they received.

One of the farmers who received a N250,000 grant, Hope Egbogbare from Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area, expressed her gratitude, saying she never expected such support and that the funds would greatly benefit her poultry business.

Similarly, Mrs. Justina Emelue, who received food items, expressed her relief, stating, “The food will help me and my children now because things are very expensive in the market.”
