240 Women Enrolled in Health Initiative by DESOPADEC Chairman

WARRI/Nigeria: Two hundred and forty women have been embraced by the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative, spearheaded by the Delta State Contributory Health Commission. This initiative, propelled by the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Nani, aims to ensure healthcare access for all, regardless of socio-economic status.
Launching the program at the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Cultural Center in Warri, Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Olorogun Isaac Akpoveta, praised Nani’s philanthropy, calling it a “remarkable generosity and compassion” that sets a high standard for others.
Akpoveta emphasized the initiative’s goal of providing quality healthcare to every Delta State resident, especially the indigents. He lauded Nani’s gesture as not just an act of charity but a display of empathy and commitment to community well-being.
“The spirit of solidarity and community support exemplified by this gentleman will provide essential healthcare coverage for those who need it most,” Akpoveta stated, highlighting the opportunity for individuals to contribute to their neighbors’ health with a nominal fee of N7000 per person.
He underscored the alignment of Nani’s action with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of the state administration, urging stakeholders to join in the effort to “SAVE A LIFE” by adopting and funding indigent health insurance covers.
Akpoveta outlined DSCHC’s programs, including Equity Health Plan, Formal Health Plan, and Informal Health Plan, aimed at bridging healthcare disparities. He stressed the importance of synergy in achieving comprehensive healthcare coverage and improving health outcomes.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his support, Akpoveta affirmed the commission’s commitment to expanding its reach and ensuring health for all Delta State residents by 2030, in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.
Addressing the gathering, DESOPADEC Chairman Nani reiterated his dedication to serving the people, pledging further support for initiatives that benefit the community.
Leadership figures within the Urhobo community, including Olorogun Barr. Gam Owe and Dame Rose Oghene, commended Nani for his responsiveness to the Union’s request and urged other leaders to follow suit.
The newly enrolled women expressed gratitude for the opportunity to access quality healthcare.
In recognition of his efforts, Nani was honored as a Health Insurance Ambassador by DSCHC, further cementing his commitment to advancing healthcare accessibility in Delta State.
